I'm back from Montana! The wedding was very lovely and my sister was so beautiful. I had a nice time up there. I will be posting pictures up later when I get my internet back since I'm grounded (how did I get grounded when I am 18 years old? I must love my parents too much).
Btw, I apologize for the typos in this post. It's dark and I can't see my brother's keyboard.
So I'll talk about yesterday. I threw a surprise going away party for one of my best friends, Hugo. He's leaving to New York this Saturday because he will be attending New York University! Isn't that exciting?
The party was held in my backyard. I set up a long table so everybody could sit down and set up nice cushion chairs in the patio. For dinner we had Church's fried chicken and pizza! XD Also summer watermelons and grapes. Yummy. Before the actual party started, I also strung up wedding balloons (I couldn't find plain ones at the 99 cents store) with the help of some of my friends.
As for the actual surprise, it actually ended in a flop. When I brought Hugo in, everyone didn't see him come in and everyone sort of came out late one by one yelling "surprise!" at different times lol. But the rest of the nice was good. During dinner, we decided to roast Hugo. Not toast, roast him! Roasting means you insult the person, but the compliment him after. A true compliment of course. My friends and I successfully roasted Hugo at least once, but for some reason we ended up roasting each other instead. It was like an inferno! Of laughter.
After dinner, I put on some school video projects that he was in. The first was Lakisha, a old video we made for Spanish 2 class in Sophomore year. Then I put in Black Rabbit Murderer 2 which we made back in 11th grade for AP US History. Here it is again for those who don't remember:
Hugo is the sarcastic one with the 7-Up can.
After the videos, I put up a slideshow I created for him. It was awesome and had Black Eye Peas goodness for background music. I've Got a Feeling was the theme song for the night.
When the slideshow was over, we went out to the background to play a game called Touch Someone. It's a really sweet game that Chayo and Joseph learned at their Orientation at UCI. First, everyone sits on the ground in a circle. You have to make sure you sit facing outward of the circle and that you are not too close to anybody next to you. Everyone also must close their eyes and keep it closed the entire time. Then there is one person who is a narrator who picks a couple of people to stand up. When the narrator gives an instruction, the people standing up must touch someone (and you can touch more than one person) that applies to that instruction. For example, the narrator would say "Touch someone who made you smile today" and the people standing would go around to touch people who made them smile today. The games continues endlessly like that. After several questions, the narrator could also choose to switch the standing people to go around and touch others too. In our game we had a total of nine people, so we had two people standing.
Although the game sounds a little cheesy, it is a really sweet game that shows how we all touch each other in someway whether it is positive or negative. It's really effective when you don't know who is standing up, that's tapping you on the head or poking you in the back. Every little tap feels like a heartbeat telling you that they are there with you.
Some of my favorites that really surprised me since I didn't expect to get touched for were "Touch someone that has a beautiful personality" and "Touch someone who is talented but doesn't get enough credit for". Those were really sweet~ and another one that was cute was "Touch someone who you would dodge a bullet for".
There was at one point where I was about to tear up a little. I think it was "Touch someone who you would never want to forget". That oddly made me feel very loved and warm on the inside. So thank you to whoever two touched me for that!
I also got the chance on the second round to touch people. One of them was "Touch someone who you love to hate" and I decided to run around and smack most of my friends on the back for the heck of it. I know smacked Jonathan really really hard on his back and he yelled out in pain, "That has to be an April smack!"
When the game was over everyone left except for Hugo and Chayo. So we spent the next couple of hours outside talking, playing the gameboard LIFE, and listening to some music until they had to leave.
For gifts, we created a poster for Hugo to post on his dorm wall at NYU and also a pop-up sex book to bring along. I actually really like the pop-up sex book since the illustrations are really colorful and had a lot of care to them. And I'm speaking about this in an artistic perspective. The book was very tasteful! Even my friends who would cringe at the sight of it thought it was a really nice book. It even has gold lettering on the cover.
So that was Hugo's going away party. I'm going to really miss him. I'm going to miss his sarcasm and wit... his perverted drawings and the way he insults people... gonna miss his funny hair and how he laughs like a hyena. Lol. I'll see him again this Friday when I sneak out of the house to go to Penguin's BBQ.
I can't believe he's leaving. :/
